Hansen Dam Recreational Facility, Los Angeles, CA

RBF Consulting (RBF) provided engineering plans, specifications, and estimates for the Hansen Dam Recreational Facility. The work included grading and earthwork design for the 9-acre recreational lake and 1.5-acre swim lake; beach and picnic areas; parking lots; and roadways. The work also included design of local drainage structures, soil cement revetment, channel riprap protection, and fencing. A unique component of this project was the completion of an alternative site configuration study to assist the Corps in downsizing the project to meet budget constraints. Another essential project element was coordination between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE), City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks, and local elected representatives. Additional facilities include parking spaces for autos and boats; boating structures, including launching ramp, dock, fishing platforms, and cleaning stations; restroom facilities; mechanical and potable water supply; sewage system; lifeguard administration building; parking and access roads; landscaping; and irrigation.
